Juryeonggu FAQs

What are the basic rules?

Taking Turns: Each person gets one turn rolling the dice. Once the dice is rolled, that player must follow the command given on the top dice face. This could be either taking a shot, making someone else drink, or a number of other commands. Once the dice command is followed, the dice is passed to the next player.

Game End: The game ends whenever the group decides to stop drinking, or maybe wants to grab pizza, or ramyun, or whatever other late night food options are still open.

Winning: You're all winners in my eyes.

BTW, please play responsibly ❤️

  • bang - Take a shot.
  • bully - Choose someone else who has to take a shot.
  • truth - Tell one truth and one lie. If the table figures out the lie then take a shot.
  • curse - Take a shot, but also choose someone who has to take a shot with you.
  • village - Everyone at the table must drink.
  • unlucky - Take a shot and roll again.
  • death - Take 2 shots.
  • war - Challenge someone to a game like Rock, Paper, Scissors. Loser drinks.
  • dare - Give someone a dare or they can take a shot instead.
  • cop - Make a rule that lasts until the end of the game. It's solely the cop's responsibility to catch anyone breaking the rule, at which point the rule breaker has to drink.
  • heaven - You don’t have to drink.

What are some other "War" challenge ideas?

My friends have found the simpler the game, the easier and more fun the experience. Games that a 6 year old kid would make up on a playground seem to work best since they are easy to explain and understand.

  • Tongue twister challenge - Each person takes turns repeating the same tongue twister until the first person messes up.
  • Spelling bee - Each person challenges the other to spell a moderately to difficult word until someone loses. E.g. exemplify, cromulent, accommodation, rendezvous, nauseous.
  • Air challenge - Plug the nose of the other person (while they plug your nose) and see who can hold their breath for the longest.
  • Spinning quarters - Spin coins on the table at the same time to see whose will go the longest without stopping.
  • I spy - Simple game of I spy (e.g. I spy with my little eye something blue) with 3 guesses.

Any tips for coming up with something for "Truth"?

Truth can be a tricky one, especially if you're usually an honest goody-two-shoes person at heart. What I've found is that it can more difficult to come up with two statements (one true and one a lie), so an easy rule alteration is to just come up with a single statement and then have the table guess by a show of hands whether what you have said is true or a lie.

  • I was dropped on my head as a baby!... True?
  • I don't legally have a middle name!... False?
  • I tried out for American Idol in 2013!... True?
  • I was born with 11 toes, but had one surgically removed!... False?

How does "Cop" work?

If you roll "Cop," you get the opportunity to make up a rule that lasts until the end of the game (or unless someone makes a rule that cancels out your rule). It is then your responsibility to catch anyone breaking your rule, at which point you can make the rule breaker drink.

Sure, other people could catch rule breakers throughout the game, but a wise man once said, "snitches get stitches."

Example rules:

  • Anyone who gets to skip a shot has to bark like a dog
  • The nose game: when you touch your nose, everyone else has to do the same. Last person to touch their nose loses
  • Memory: choose a word or phrase that everyone has to remember and repeat any time you point at them

How long does the game last for?

A single game of Juryeonggu lasts for as long as both your liver and bladder can handle.

Do we need to have soju to enjoy the game?

Not at all! Assign any number of drink penalties to the game like finishing half a beer, a big 'ol swig of wine, or maybe hot sauce shots.

How many people can play?

You could play with just two people, but this is a social game, so the more the merrier. I've played with two others (so three total) and you do kind of get drunk pretty quickly. So I'd recommend at least three people at minimum, but do whatever you want and live your truth.

What are your shipping policies?

Currently, I'm only shipping to addresses in the US, but hope to expand to the rest of the world at a later date. Sign up to the newsletter to get notified of on availability in your country.

Shipping is currently handled by USPS as I've had (and I'm sure we've all had) headaches with pretty much every other major shipper.

My policy is to ship your order within two to three (2-3) business days from the order date, but if I encounter any issues then I'll shoot an email over to the email address associated with the order.

Can I buy on Amazon?

Nope. I'm really sorry, but if you see my products on Amazon, they are either knockoffs or scalped products. For that reason, I do not provide any exchanges, warranty claims, or refunds for anything not bought from my klunkwerks.co shop.
